PARENTING YOUR TEENAGER WITH DRS LES AND LESLIE PARROT

Help Your Teenager Overcome Hurts, Become Less Rebellious,
and Discover their True Identity

Identity questions. Emotional turmoil. Rebellion. Welcome to the teenager’s world. And if you’re their parent, you’re already in that mix. It’s a tough job, you know, and you’ve got to do it. Nowadays, you have to play counselor, cop, and crisis manager all rolled into one. Good parenting means using your head, your heart, and your faith.

Parenting Your Teenager equips moms and dads to recognize common patterns, plan effective strategies, and build character. The four-session video series features relationship experts Les and Leslie Parrott. And, in 24 gut-level interviews, parents and teens talk openly about rebellion, conflict, pain, and identity. Plus, there’s a candid chat with singer Steven Curtis Chapman about faith and family.

About the Experts: For more than 15 years, Drs. Les and Leslie Parrott have been counseling people about relationships. Authors of several books, they have been guests on nationwide TV programs such as Oprah and Good Morning America, and their work has been featured in Christianity Today and Focus on the Family magazines.

Identity

Who am I? Where do I fit? Is there anything I’m good at? What’s most important in my life? Each of these questions can bring growth or tension--usually both. As parents show unconditional love and develop communication skills (especially listening), teens can learn to find their true identity in Christ.

  Turmoil

Facing failure. Love that hurts. Impossible standards. Never looking good enough. The pressures of life can create insecurity, depression, even anger and violence. With Christ-like empathy, parents can offer comfort and mercy in the teeth of turbulent emotions.

Rebellion

Teens will make mistakes, cross boundaries, and lose their family’s trust. How should parents deal with open aggression, drugs, drinking, and sex? With solid boundaries, realistic consequences, clear communication, and tons of prayer.

Legacy

Teens need to find their own faith. That’s what all their questions and doubts are about. The best gift parents can offer is a living relationship with Jesus--something their kids can claim for themselves. And in an inspiring interview, Steven Curtis Chapman talks about his own family and faith.
