  • dr. tinney v. parrish

    Pastor

Dr. Tinney Parrish has served as our Pastor since 2009. With over 25 years of pastoral experience, he pastored churches in Maryland and North Carolina before moving here to Norfolk. Pastor Tinney earned a B.A. and M.A. in History from the University of Mayland, Baltimore County and his M. Div. and D. Min. from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, NC.

Traveling, reading, golf and enjoying good coffee are among his favorite pastimes. He’s a devoted fan of the Baltimore Orioles and Baltimore Ravens. During spare time you can usually find him playing a round of golf, walking or reading in one of our many lovely local parks, or spending the day at the beach enjoying the salt air and the sound of the waves.

Pastor Tinney and his wife Michelle were high school sweethearts and have been married forever (well, at least since 1979). They have two married children, Amy and Andrew and four grandchildren, Len, Stephen, Penny, and Maddie. The Parrish Family has fallen in love with our beautiful Ghent community and live just a few blocks from our church.

  • Laura Brod

    Music Director

Laura comes to Central with a wide background in church music and media/arts roles over the last fifteen years, having held positions at various churches and military base chapels. She earned her B.A. in music from the University of South Florida (Tampa) and will complete her M.A. in Music & Worship from Liberty University’s School of Music soon as she begins writing her thesis this fall (2022).

Laura is passionate about Scripturally true songs for worship that embrace a wide span of time from historic to current day to ensure that congregants connect with God through the church’s music. Two of her favorite Scripture chapters are 2 Chronicles 20 and Nehemiah 8. She loves to thrift shop, read, and spend time with her husband of almost seventeen years, Andrew. This is the third time that the Brods have been able to call the Hampton Roads area home, and they live in Norfolk with their Pomeranian “dog-ther”, Miss Daisy #2.
